Do we owe our British Empire ex-colonies citizens anything?

I do not think that we owe those countries which were part of the British Empire per se, we owe it to those countries that are much poorer than us to help them propser as much as they can. Sometimes this means trading with these countries, other times, like Haiti, it means aid.
